چکیده

It has been known that linoleic acid is converted to arachidonic acid in the body, and its process has gradually become clear. However, it is still unknown to what compound arachidonic acid is changed. According to the report of Davis et all) arachidonic acid labeled with C14 is incorporated into docosapentaenoic acid (22:5•¢)4.7.10.13.16 in the body of albino rats. The author has previously reported2),3) that arachidonic acid is converted to linoleic acid in the phospholipid of albino rat liver and these two acids appear to form a cycle. Extending these results further, we have confirmed the incorporation of 1-C14-arachidonic acid into linoleic acid in the phospholipid of albino rat liver, as reported below.

Linoleic acid (all cis) changes into arachidonic acid in the liver of rat. This is facilitated by vitamin Bo according to Holman et al.1-3 The authors confirmed this and further clarified the following facts .4 Such change from linoleic acid to arachidonic acid was more pronounced in the phospholipid of the liver. In the phospholipid, arachidonic acid changed into linoleic acid but vitamin B6 d...

O-16: Metabolism of Exogenous Fatty Acids, Fatty Acid-Mediated Cholesterol Efflux, PKA and PKC Pathways in Boar Sperm Acrosome Reaction

Background: For understanding the roles of fatty acids on the induction of acrosome reaction which occurs under association of cholesterol efflux and PKA or PKC pathways in boar spermatozoa, metabolic fate of alone and combined radiolabeled 14C-oleic acid and 3H-linoleic acid incorporated in the sperm was compared, and behavior of cholesterol and effects of PKA and PKC inhibitors upon fatty aci...

A possible role of pyridoxine in lipid metabolism.

The influence of pyridoxine upon the metabolic conversion of linoleic acid to arachidonic acid was studied in the livers of rats maintained w ith different kinds and conditions of dietary fats. Effects of a Nutritional Deficiency of Unsaturated Fats on the Distribution of Fatty Acids in Rat Liver Mitochondrial Phospholipids.

The fatty acid composition of liver mitochondrial phospholipids from rats rendered deficient in essential unsaturated fatty acids has been determined, and compared with that of rats fed a diet containing corn oil. Arachidonic acid concentrations in patients with Crohn disease.

We read with interest the work by Jeppesen et al (1) examining the fatty acid content of plasma phospholipids in patients with malabsorption and patients receiving home parenteral nutrition (HPN). In that article, patients with fat malabsorption were subgrouped according to the severity of malabsorption (fat malabsorption ≤50% and fat malabsorption >50%), whereas patients receiving HPN were gro...
